Happy Hanukkah!
Happy Kwanzaa!
Merry Christmas!
If you’re near Peabody, MA this Wednesday, come say hi to me at Menorah @ the Mall, North Shore Mall, from 5-6:30. I’ll be reading Esther’s Hanukkah Disaster, running a follow-up game, and signing several of my picture books. I might build a lego menorah and get my face painted, too, and I’ll definitely watch the grand menorah lighting and…yum…eat latkes!
It was! Kids got to do a scavenger hunt, authors got to sign books and schmooze with customers and other authors. And of course, eat cookies.
Here are some photos…
I was lucky to share a table with Anne Broyles, author of the wonderful Arturo and the Navidad Birds…
There were 20 authors to schmooze with!
Signing
It was fun!
You’re invited to not 1 but 2 holiday book events this weekend featuring local authors (including moi!) I’ll be chatting, answering questions, and offering signed copies of my picture books and middle grade novels.
The first is at Cary Library, Lexington, MA, on Friday night, December 5th, from 5-8 PM. As part of Lexington Center’s shopping night and open houses, the library will have live music, a magician, refreshments, and a local author book sale.
Then on Saturday, from 1-4 PM in Sherborn, MA, I’ll be at the Writers’ Loft Holiday Bazaar & Book Fair. Come chat with 20!!!! authors for all ages, buy signed books, and enjoy family activities and crafts.
I am pleased, delighted…totally felice that my Chanukah story–complete with Andy Rowland’s wonderful illustrations–has been published in…drum roll…Italian…by Casa Editrice Giuntina in Milan, Italy!
Wish I could fly over and buy a copy!
This Sunday, November 23rd, at 10:30 AM, I’ll be kicking off the pre-Chanukah season as well as Brookline Booksmith’s fun-filled Chanukah Story Time by reading my picture book about the shopping-challenged Esther the purple gorilla: ESTHER’S HANUKKAH DISASTER. And I’ll sign copies, of course.

I signed up with the Ask the Author on program on Goodreads. People pose questions, I’m notified, and I respond. Simple. To get things rolling, Goodreads already asked me a couple of questions, which I pondered for at least 2 minutes, and then answered.
The instructions indicated I could ask myself questions. I was tempted to ask, “Jane, how do you manage to write such wonderful books, look so youthful and glamorous and undertake all those generous actions for the sake of humanity?” But I didn’t.

Don’t be shy: ask me!
I love Halloween…it gives everyone permission to engage in improv theater. And it takes away a bit of the sting that the next day is…brrrr….November, and we know where that’s leading. Today, for instance, is November 3rd, and it’s snowing here in Lexington, MA. What a post-Halloween buzz-kill.
My inclination to go to sleep for the next few months inspired the latest Halloween “Ball Man.”
This year my husband, Al, planted pumpkins…Here he is with his harvest!
And here are the pumpkins all decorated and ready to greet trick-or-treaters! Yay, Halloween!
As my husband and I walked around Lake Scranton and our daughter literally ran circles around us, a furry forest denizen seemed as curious about us as we were about her and her 3 nearby offspring.
