Two Days ‘Til Menorah @ the Mall!

If you’re near Peabody, MA this Wednesday, come say hi to me at Menorah @ the Mall, North Shore Mall, from 5-6:30. I’ll be reading Esther’s Hanukkah Disaster, running a follow-up game, and signing several of my picture books. I might build a lego menorah and get my face painted,  too, and I’ll definitely watch… Read more »

Writers’ Loft Bazaar was Bazaarly Successful!

It was! Kids got to do a scavenger hunt, authors got to sign books and schmooze with customers and other authors. And of course, eat cookies. Here are some photos… I was lucky to share a table with Anne Broyles, author of the wonderful Arturo and the Navidad Birds…

Esther=Ester in Italian!

I am pleased, delighted…totally felice that my Chanukah story–complete with Andy Rowland’s wonderful illustrations–has been published in…drum roll…Italian…by Casa Editrice Giuntina in Milan, Italy!  Wish I could fly over and buy a copy!

Hanukkah Countdown Begins!

This Sunday, November 23rd, at 10:30 AM, I’ll be kicking off the pre-Chanukah season as well as Brookline Booksmith’s fun-filled Chanukah Story Time by reading my picture book about the shopping-challenged Esther the purple gorilla: ESTHER’S HANUKKAH DISASTER. And I’ll sign copies, of course. http://www.brooklinebooksmith.com/events/mainevent.html

To get things rolling, Goodreads already asked me a couple of questions, which I pondered for at least 2 minutes, and then answered. The instructions indicated I could ask myself questions. I was tempted to ask,… Read more »

Fun and Not So Fun

I love Halloween…it gives everyone permission to engage in improv theater. And it takes away a bit of the sting that the next day is…brrrr….November, and we know where that’s leading. Today, for instance, is November 3rd, and it’s snowing here in Lexington, MA.  What a post-Halloween buzz-kill.

Not Exactly Scared of Us!

As my husband and I walked around Lake Scranton and our daughter literally ran circles around us, a furry forest denizen seemed as curious about us as we were about her and her 3 nearby offspring.

Slow, Steady and Amahzing…

Yesterday my husband looked out the window and called my attention to something moving slowly but steadily across our backyard. The sight, as my daughter would say, was amahzing.. To show this prehistoric-looking creature’s impressive size, we gingerly placed a large watering can next to it…. Kinda big, right? And then, perhaps providing inspiration for my next… Read more »

Happy 100th Birthday to My Dad!!!!

Just sharing the amazing, happy news that my dad, Milton Sutton, turned 100 years old yesterday! He is as witty and charming as ever. In a later post, I’ll share some ways he’s inspired my writing. But for now, I’ll just shout Happy Birthday from every virtual roof top and include this link to an article… Read more »
